How Should a Suit Jacket Fit in the Shoulders and Chest?
Ready-To-Wear jackets are important to have tailored to your body and preferences. Firstly, there are certain restrictions when adjusting a Ready-To-Wear jacket, the shoulders are not something we recommend having altered, better to ensure that you have the correct shoulder width and have other aspects of the jacket altered. The chest piece is also difficult to have altered due to the construction of the jacket.

Shoulder Fit
The shoulders must be wide enough to lay flat without any stretching of the armhole.They should not be too wide either as this creates an odd droopy fit.
Sleeve Alterations
The sleeves should be altered to your specific arm length, and we recommend having approximately 1.5cm of shirt showing.Our jackets come with non-functional buttonholes, to allow for easier alterations, if your tailor has the necessary equipment, then the buttons can be opened and made functional.
Chest Fit
The chest should lay flat without any flaring of the lapel, if when buttoning the jacket, the lapels bulge open then that is an indication that the chest is too tight.Waist and Silhouette
The waist is key to the silhouette and creating a shape to the jacket. If the button is stretched when buttoned, then the waist is too tight. If the jacket does not have a shape in the sides, then the jacket is too big.The waist must have enough space for the fabric to drape nicely, while keeping the silhouette.
